Hi! I would like to find out if there's any way to identify the wood being used for my Strat.. I googled, it says either rosewood or maple.. Just wanna know which one is it for sure...

Any ideas??

Thanks!!

That refers to the fingerboard. If it's dark brown, it's rosewood, if it's light brown, same as the back of the neck colour, it's maple.

Your guitar body should be alder wood

You're referring to the fingerboard or the body? Fingerboard is easy. If its a dark, dark brown, then its rosewood. If its a very light shade of brown, almost beige, its maple. For body, you'll have to check the specs online based on your guitar model but i believe American Standard Fat Strats are alder, just like all other American Standard strats.

Yea! I'm referring to fretboard.. Yup! It's rosewood! Thanks so much for the tips guys!! Just got this fretboard polisher thing.. It says don't use it on maple wood.. So.. Need to check just in case..

Thanks so much!!

Hahaha no worries. The difference between a rosewood and maple fretboard is very noticeable, so next time you shouldn't have problems identifying the fretboard wood. What's harder to distinguish from further away, are rosewood and ebony.
