hey guys! what's your pick
out of a list of these 4.

1) randy rhoads
2) jake e lee
3) zakk wylde
4) brad gillis

choose one and give a reason for your choice

i'd say randy too

jake was frigging killer. zakk brought ozzy's style to more stoner sort.
brad was just a live member.. but he handled the songs well (they played sabbath)

RR n Zakk would be hot favs, i figure.

my take is all 4, (ozzy only hired the best) growing up in the 80s to this cats, they all had unique styles that were pushing rock guitar into newer heights.

i remember watching a vid of Jake's guitar solo segment, playing chords with all 5 fingers on the fretboard (thumb incl) in 1985/6. and his unique intro to 'shot in the dark', using a fixed bridge guitar :)

note: Brad was gracious to step-in after RRs tragic passing, putting his then US chart-topping band, Night Ranger on hold etc.

Duh!!!!!!!!! You left out Tony Iomi, did I get the spelling right?

Tony was a monster lefty with some groovy power licks. Without Tony there would not have been an Ozzy to begin with.

And without Randy there would be no Jake, or Zakk.

My fav is Randy Rhoads. With his scale/mode playing, he brought rock guitar to new heights. And he did it with feel! Randy was also a damn nice guy! Randy Rhoads had feel and knew how and when to use speed - unlike lots of guitarist today who blindly play as fast as they can without any thought about what the heck it is that they are trying to communicate.

It's a pity that he left us so soon. Jake, Zakk are all still with us and neither has gone on to create anything of real substance. Randy Rhoads was only here for a short while and look at what he's done. It would be earth shattering if he was still alive and playing his music right up till today. How can you even compare???

Cheers
