hi.this thread might just piss some people off or
might even start world war III,ha...ha..ha. so here it goes.
i've just watch the asianbeat heats on youtube.ii would confidently
say that singapore has lots of YOUNG talents n up n coming musicians.
was surprised to see FAMILIAR faces among the participants.so the question is,
----------------------------------------------------------
1.is our local scene so lame that éstablished musicians has got not much
avenues to play in?
2.when can we see our (younger) talents progress in a competition?
3.for the familiar faces, give chance lah to the next generation.go n cut
an album or something or even a world tour.LOL
4.what can we do to give opportunity for our 'Familiar Faces' to play on a
bigger stage or event.(cause i understand the thrill we get playing on stage)

--------------------------------------------------------------
this thread is not meant to criticise any bands or musicians.
instead,i apreciate n applaude each n every band that competed
in the heats.being a finalist in asianbeat 2008 myself.i could understand
all the blood, sweat n tears preparing for asianbeat.
THIS IS JUST AN OPINION.so feel free to share your opinions.
----------maybe soft can organise 'SINGSTOCK'(woodstock).ha..ha.

If you're good then you're good, you will win if you are good not if you are a "familiar face" around. I don't believe in giving chances or any kind of stuff like that.

If you want it just work hard for it. Its a competition and it is all about who's better, if younger bands want to "make it" in the music scene all they've got to do is work hard, learn more and don't expect people to give you chances.

its a competition... wat can u expect?

yamaha dun allow the top 3 to join for a period of 2-3 years, not sure abt now.
so after tat, then if the previous winners wanna do a project and join then its up to them. its a competition. i admit into joining many2 times coz i love performing, love making new frds and love lepaking with the familiar faces.

wjl123 said is true. if u r gd,u r gd.

plus,it doesnt mean tat familiar faces WILL win.
new faces are still good if they are gd. everyone is equal if everyone put in their bestest 6mins on stage

'Giving chance' is another way of saying 'Destroy The Scene'. Let the people who don't deserve to be there take the title. You want to be recognized better work for it pal, no two ways about it, no shortcut, the hard and tough way is the better way.

the 'when u r good u r good' is right.
i agree n do not deny the fact.
just wondering if we can have another platform for musicians
n people who loves to perform.
i am not talking about small gigs.
lets brainstorm n who knows,we might come up with
a grand music event for local acts without being judged by a panel of people
if the music is friendly enough for singapore crowd.
this thread was never meant to be negative but should be viewed positively.
i still remembered playing at substaion's 24hr gig.back in the early 90's.
that gig was awesome.no holds barred.
-----------------------------------------------
btw, where's sixology now?
got album already?
n luv AURIGAMI -got stage presence

I'd rather work smart than work hard.
