Howdy folks,
I represent an experienced quartet of instrumentalists (2 guitarists, drummer, bass player) that are seeking a permanent vocalist and perhaps a keyboard player. We're looking for people who have the following traits:
A little bit about us:
We're a group of 30-40 year-old males from diverse ethnic, cultural, national and musical backgrounds. We've individually been playing for almost 2 decades each. Mostly settled down with work and family, we've found the time to sit down and do what we've always enjoyed the most together: make music. We want to make music that *we* enjoy playing and listening to, and we believe that a natural consequence of that is music that is enjoyable for others. The vocalist tends to be the lowest common denominator, we can change our instruments but you are pretty much stuck with your voice. We're more than willing to accommodate that, in terms of range and genre.
Influences are pretty broad (on an individual basis), ranging from progressive and extreme metal to classic rock, jazz, fusion, singer/songwriter pop rock… the list goes on. We’re pretty versatile so if you’re not sure whether you might want to give this a shot, you’ve got nothing to lost by trying and everything to gain.
We don’t have any stuff recorded together at the moment, but have quite a bit of material that we have all put out separately if you want to take a list.
If you’d like to find out more (or to tell us about yourself!) drop me an email at adamqlw @ gmail.com or contact me at 9 23 22 7 three 3
I represent an experienced quartet of instrumentalists (2 guitarists, drummer, bass player) that are seeking a permanent vocalist and perhaps a keyboard player. We're looking for people who have the following traits:
- Broad-minded in your approach to music - You should be willing to try anything once. If you still don't like it.. fair enough
- You write your own parts - As a singer, we'll be relying on you for the vocals melodies and lyrics. As a keyboard player... self-explanatory. If you want to help with arrangement and writing other parts as well, you are most welcome and encouraged.
- Enjoy improvising and playing off the cuff - We like to sit down and write stuff out but we believe a lot of the magic happens in the heat of the moment. We like to jam things out and feel the way they're shaping up and let things unfold naturally, you need to like that too.
- You don't have to be super good, but you must play with conviction and play to your strengths - We're not virtuosos, we don't expect you to be either. But we do expect you to know your limits and focus on doing what you do well. You are of course encouraged to challenge yourself, but if you're going to do that we need to know you're putting in the hours to rise to the challenge.
- You can commit to one day a week - Most likely it will be a weekday after office hours (between 7-10). Alternatively, we'll target a Saturday afternoon (3-6). We can try and make exceptions but as we all have day jobs and familiar, the exceptions will be few and far between.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY - Good chemistry. If we can sit down and have a good chat and a tasty beverage (alcoholic or otherwise), then we think the rest will pretty much take care of itself. We're in this because we love music, and because we want to have a good time doing what we love. A huge part of that is people that you can click with naturally. If you're easy going, open minded and passionate about your craft, I think we'll get along just fine. Or perhaps even more than just fine.
