Every $1 you donated to NKF, only $0.10 became real aid...

Every year the overseas and local celebrities work so hard to raise money for NKF, they only hope for one thing that is to help the poor patients. And we all donate our hardearned money to NKF. Sometimes even i'm don't have enough money to use i'll spare a thought for those who are more unfortunate than me. I'll still donate what i can. It's such a disgrace that they don't handle the money properly. The no.1 priority goes to the kidney patients!!!

i am never donating a single cent ever again to any charity firm or whatsoevr. these bunch of Notorious Khanina Fahkers ate my money since primary 1 (can u believe this? EXTORTION frm CHILDREN?!). The government is pushing the blame to only one person in the firm when they also had their share of the fraud. they think ppl like me r stupid. well to hell.

Now that the truth about what TT Durai has done has come to light, the knee jerk response is to no longer donate, because your money has been wasted and extorted. Right?
Tell this to the family of the kidney patient who cannot afford dialysis without financial help. the fact remains that NKF does have patients to support despite the existence of other associations for kidney patients like the Kidney Dialysis Foundation, which helps end-stage kidney patients, and is also a charity. Stopping donating because of this incident just hurts the patients more. How much do you think TT Durai will suffer? compare that to how much the kidney patients are going to suffer if donations plummet. not that I know a lot about this sort of thing--but I volunteer at SCAS, Spastic Children's Association of Singapore, and already BEFORE TT Durai having a flag day was like trying to pull teeth from people, raising funds was a headache. How much harder will it be for all charitable organisations after this? not every charitable organisation is totally honest but not all of them are frauds either.

Recently the Orchard area has been packed with "volunteers" who aggressively try to make you donate money. The tactics they use include, but are not limited to, pulling your clothes, barring your way and shouting in your face. This is a true account btw, it happened to me and another friend during December.

The first incident was somewhere around 10th Dec, me and my friends were walking outside Heeren, and this girl approached us and asked for donations. Obviously the first thing she said was "Hi, I'm not trying to sell you anything etc etc etc" When my friend explicitly stated that he was not interested in donating money, she began pulling at his shirt and demanding donations. At one point she even shouted "I JUST CAME OUT FROM PRISON, GIVE ME 2 DOLLARS CAN OR NOT!?!?!" After like 5 minutes we managed to shake her off, but it was a pretty traumatising experience.

The second time this occurred, it happened to me, just outside Cathay Cineleisure, this girl, who I observed was amongst a group of friends doing the same thing, asked me to donate, starting with the same introduction as stated earlier. Similarly I said I wasn't interested and I was in a hurry (which I was, since I was supposed to meet my friends and I was late), she stood directly in my path waving her clipboard in my face, and pulled my shirt refusing to let me go until I donated money. This time I lost my temper and told her that if she continued I'd sue for harrassment, which thankfully scared her enough to stop.

My conclusion? No volunteers are fanatical enough to ask for donations in this manner, the only reasonable explanation I could come up with is that these people are hired to collect donations and they're paid a commission based on how much they manage to collect. Which isn't exactly flattering to charities after the recent NKF saga.
