i find that my ideas are best when im extremely happy.

when i'm depressed all i end up writing is whiny emo sh!t that the music industry is filled with nowadays. i dare say that 90% of the songs released these days are about love. i don't think i want to release that kind of material.

when i'm extremely happy, or under the influence of *ahem* certain substances i get to see things in such a different way.... that i don't normally see from in my everyday life.

agreed! thats why i find sad/depressive (not gonna use the term emo in any way) carries a lot more emotional output than happy songs. sad songs written by people over a dark period of their lives are usually great!
