Eugene's Trick Bag

Anyone here has learnt/is learning Eugene's Trick Bag from Mr Vai?
It's a very cool sounding piece to play but I still can't get it up to tempo.

I learned it and could play a reasonable effort about 10 years ago at a reasonable tempo.

Hardest part is the pick control during the opening arpeggios and getting the last note to sound at an imaginary 29th fret (virtually impossible).

to me the hardest part is the 5th caprice.... haha... playing it up to speed is pretty challegning.

I find the arpeggios the hardest too because they require some position shifts without compromising the tempo. I procrastinated on learning it for the longest time because my arpeggios were still not up to scratch only until recently.

But now that I learnt it, I find it a very satisfying and musical piece.

for the last note, did you fret it at the pickup?

For the last note, I think I did something lame like just play it an octave lower.

Anyway, in the recorded version there is an overdub.
