i donno if dis thread is posted before or whether i posted dis in da wrong place, so i apologize 1stly..

anyway, juz outta curiosity, wat equipments would you jammers out there prefer in a jamming studio?

-maybe suggest placement/position of equipments
-specific equipments for certain genres
-vocal effects for 'choosy' vocalist (sory, lack of a better word)
-wat kinda drum settings/how many toms etc.
-recording suggestions.
-misc requirements (guitar strings/straps/song books on popular songs/sofas/drinks/karoake/massage parlour/jacuzzi.. i donno ok i juz wack la wahahaha)

big cozy room with sofa

neat positioning and wire set up - no messy wire here and there

decent paintwork and lightings - no blowed lights or chipped wall paint

decent amps - jazz chorus is my fav, versatile as most guitarists bring along their pedals

bass amps - hartke? err haha i dont play bass

good mic - no feedback, electric shock

drums? - err i dont know

DI? - err as long as can work properly can la hahah

What are you going to do with a 4x12 cab in a studio so small? That's overkill. The only studio I can think of that can try to put that to good use is the largest room at Rockstar.

jamming rooms should be bigger
and drum sets should be properly tuned
and they should have cymbals that aren't cracked.
and they should include mic stands that aren't spoilt
and guitar cables that aren't faulty

Every drummer should own and know how to use a drum key. You didn't say "studio guitars should be properly tuned", so why should drums get special treatment?

Cymbals don't crack themselves, and mic stands don't spoil themselves either. If we all took better care of them collectively, it wouldn't be such a problem ;)

Every guitarist/bassist should bring his own cables, too!

woo ok thx for all the feedback but i dont seem to see any needs for 'special equipments'. for example i think boons provide some kinda percussion (tablas? hahaha). some drummers prefer to have cowbells.

i wonder if all diz is needed or juz a bonus for jammers.

i even jammed once in tamp, i forgot the studio name. da biggest room charge at $20/hr.
u mite think it provides good quality drums n amps or vocal effect, unfortunately all totally sux. i mean really sux. im guessin its expensive becoz theres a karoake box in there... derz a pc and a tv for karoake purposes... i think dats really not required.. but i donno maybe some will prefer to have dem...

n wat bout in house guiders? like da owners are approachable for tips in jammin n improving band/sound n all..? i noe some studios provide this. i think the best is seng chai's aunty. shes REALLY approachable for some goddamn good tips. eg-'u cannot play like dat! lower down the volume!' ah.. 100 years of knowledge rite there..

haha i never thought of it that way.
but tuning drums isn't a very easy thing, unlike a guitar, which you can use a tuner.

and yes i agree we all should take better care of the equipment at jamming studios so that others(and yourself) can have decent equipment to jam with. however, if the equipment is faulty (could be due to wear and tear over time), it would be very much appreciated if the owners could replace them

owners do replace faulty equipments at most studios.unless they are bo chap lah..
but some jammers don`t use their brains and think that they are playing at the national stadium and blast the amps and mics..haha
