Does anyone know how much does it cost to change the default volume and tone knobs on the epiphone les paul standards to the goldtop knobs.....and where can i have it done? :D

1) Buy new knobs from Davis or any other store selling parts

2) Take a rag or a old T-shirt

3) Wrap it around the current knob on your guitar

4) Pull the knob off

5) Put the new knob onto the little thing sticking out

And you're done!

actually, not to be a female dog or wad, but u also gotta tuck a bit of the rag/tshirt under the knob, fyi, not making any1 sound dumb or anything

or to have it professionally done u can head down to Guitar Connection. i dont know how much they'll charge tho. its at Penin n its near Davis but heres the add, #B1-02/03 Excelsior Hotel. the number's 63390606.

Alternatively, stick a plastic card like a credit card or something under the knob, then turn the knob forward and back while gently lifting up with the card. works for me and you don't risk ruining the thread on the knob.

but be gentle in case you break the card.

jeremyrozario: yeah you have to do that too, guess I missed out on that on my previous post

and paying someone to change knobs for you is just dumb IMO. How professional can changing knobs be? Just DIY and you'll be done in a couple of minutes. It's not like soldering electronics or anything like that

Not recommended though, if you do use something hard, you might risk marring the finish or scratching it.

oh i forgot to mention, don't wedge the card but lift the whole card up without pressing on the body of the guitar.

and don't need to hammer the new knob on, just press it on to the desired level. sometimes you don't want it to rub on the body

oh.....i don't have to worry about the position of the switch relative to volume right........cause i don't want later i hammer it in the knob is at volume 3 when the volume is 0

well there's no marker to indicate what volume it is anyway but if you want all the knobs to be at the same place when it is a volume 0 then turn the metal part anti-clockwise until it cannot move anymore then place the knobs where you want.

well for me, i like all my knobs to face the same direction when it is at max

so i make sure the "knobs" (after you take off the plastic) are all at max before i place the plastic caps back on. the i make all the number ten in the same direction

your worry about the volume being 3 when the knob is at zero won't happen cos all the plastic parts are is decoration for the actual metal part underneath. so if you're not fussy, you can just anyhow put them on but when both your volume knobs are at max, one may have the number 10 at the bottom while the other one is at the top.
