Hey all,

Malcolm here. I just thought I would introduce myself.

I’m presently building and designing guitars full time in Beijing, China under the “Lee Guitar” label. The venture is bankrolled by renowned Taiwanese music producer, Jonathan Lee, hence the label “Lee Guitar”. Together with 2 other guys, we’re building an average of 3 flat top acoustic guitars in Beijing, China. The guitars are of my own design and thanks to Jonathan’s influence, the guitars are found in the hands of the likes of Emil Chau, Mayday and all them Mandarin pop artistes. To date, we have 5 models available and have build about 55 guitars.

I’m more of an “intuitive” builder than say a “technical” or “knowledgeable” builder. I go with my gut feel and experience rather than rely on “scientific” methodology. All our guitar designs were initially prayed about and one can say they’re Divinely inspired.

I’ve been working on guitars since I was 21 and I just turned 33. I’m a graduate from the “Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery” in Phoenix, AZ - summer class of ’94 and have apprenticed under Canadian master luthier, Sergei de Jonge for a year. I’ve also spent some time at Larrivee Guitars in Vancouver, BC and James Tyler Guitars in Van Nuys, CA. I’d visited the Collings Guitars and Santz Cruz Guitar Co. I’m also a lifetime member of A.S.I.A. – the Association of Stringed Instruments Artisans and a member of G.A.L. – Guild of American Luthiers. My guitars have been exhibited in trade shows in North America.

For the uninitiated, luthiery is the craft of building musical instruments out of wood.

I'm presently commuting between Beijing and Singapore every other month and am available for guitar repair and restoration as and when I'm back. I do quality work with prices to match:)

Hi Malcolm,

Nice meeting you at the MrMisse stall yesterday. Sorry I didn't speak to you much. Went to a forum and saw your work in China. Really impressive.

Man, I love the sound of jumbos but the Lee brand are way outta reach for paupers like me. No moolah to buy pure hand-crafted guitars! And your CV looks very good.

Hahaha, I might be sending my stuff for you to have a look soon! :D
