EMG Pickups .. anyone using ?

hmm...i play metal too, but I would prefer a pickup with more 'soul'.

The Duncan JB and Distortion are great for that purpose.

some emg pickups tend to prefer more specific positions on the guitar, like the 81, it doesnt really sound that good at the neck position on clean, but is best at the bridge position, sounds a lil too bright. For the neck pu, use 60 or 85. I prefer 60 myself :)

im saving up money to put a 60 in my ex400 :D (most guitars that come with emgs actives are only 81/81..meh)

Anybody wans to buy a EMG 60 and 2 EMG SA?

I have them in a SA SA 60 set

Will sell wired with 5 way switch and 2 emg pots or seperated

Cheers

=)

Solos and lead-work. I think EMG specify on their webby that 81 is highly advised for lead guitarist. But ultimately it boils down to your fingers and nothing more. :D

EMGs man!!!!!! I was resurrecting an old P-bass (manufactured in '79) and decided to slap on an EMG and it came back to live with a vengence!!!

Slayer uses 81s at the bridge and they have a great metal rhythm tone.

but i feel that the 81 is too thinny for leads. and lacks warmth
