Hi, I've uploaded my new composition here : http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9091241

I've only just started messing around with the mixer. I'd appreciate any tips on how to blend the orchestral elements better, especially in the final portion of the song.

Also, does anyone know where I can take a short quick course on mixing techniques? I'm a complete beginner in this.

Thanks.

Hey man... I am impressed to hear this kind of music here. You are the only few here didn't play with some guitars and make a cover to something. I mean, what i just heard was complete arrange and its multitrack.

I am trying to do pretty much to same thing.

What software and plugs you used for this beauty music? I like your strings touches. I can only suggest some mixing strategics. And i can say "i would do like this when arranging/composing"... Other that that this music passes my quality standards.

I wonder if you saw this? lower then 3db and bend to the left side more...

Hi D90,

Glad you liked it. Strange, the forum did not send me a notification about your reply (normally it does).

I'm afraid I know zero about the technical stuff so your graph is totally greek to me. I mean, I wouldn't even know what was wrong or how to improve it. I tweaked the mixer by ear but there are many knobs and functions that I am clueless about. That's why I need some kind of course to teach me something about sound engineering or how to manipulate dynamics. :D

I am just using FL Studio. For the orchestral elements I use East West Symphonic Orchestra.

Bounce, mixdown your tracks one by one separately, put into memory drive and come to my place. You need some mixing mastering advices. I suggest you give up using FL studio. Get a real sequencer program and use fl beside, i believe you can rewire.

Hi, you've got some very good song writing and arranging skills. Think we'll see a lot of you in the future.

Thanks - yes I've been so busy. Last piece I did was 4 or 5 mths ago called "Asleep on a Flying Carpet". I'm about to finish a new loud piece - maybe there'll be something by weekend or earlier. :)

Nice to know people do look out for my stuff. Haha.

Hi greentea23,
Just finished listening "Dilemma" the 3rd time through.
I like the progressions, arrangement and the melody. :)

But personally, my preference would do the kick drum centralize and give it more kick. And I would pan the left hi-hat closer to the center, sounds a bit too far from the kit. Left hi-hat kit sounds near, the right hi-hat that is on top of the kick sounds far away. Everything seems to lob-side to the left, slightly uncomfortable. Are you doing a sample delay to achieve stereo or just panning?

Again, it's my preference and your call. :) Nevertheless, great stuff! Cheers!

Hi Jeremy and everyone else here - I have a new track (rather simple but playing with fuller orch sound) :

Feedback will be appreciated.

To Jeremy - the Dilemma piece... I did it on FL Studio and didn't know how to work it well. I might redo the piece on my new Mac when I have time. :D

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Cheers
