The concert was just what I had been looking for, a chance to see a great local band in a good venue. It was great to see that the concert was sold out and everyone seemed to have such a great time.
Every time I see Electrico, I am amazed at their ability to connect with an audience. It seems like they are playing to 200 or so of their closest friends. As for the music, if you have been following the band for the last few months you would have heard some of the new tracks before and this has really whetted the apatite for the new album. These guys really understand infectious rock music. One listen and the song is under your skin, it helps that it is delivered with great musicianship and a real sense of fun.
Last night the first few songs were acoustic versions of some songs of the “So much more inside” cd and a few covers thrown in. Quite often I found myself completely absorbed in the performance, and these days that doesn’t happen too often. The change to electric guitars raised the intensity of the performance and the rock rolled on. It was a real sense of being washed over by the music, if you think this is enthusiastic support, then your right
The mixing was great, I didn’t have the best seats, but all of the seats were pretty good and the sound was mostly great. This is a real achievement in a relatively small venue. So all in all a great night.
I love going to concerts like Made in Singapore, Rock on Singapore etc but I really crave the chance to see top level Singaporean bands playing in a decent venue, where I can buy tickets weeks ahead of time, sit in comfortable chairs and really enjoy a great performance, of a band. IMHO top level bands somehow need to make this happen. I don’t know the circumstance of the Electrico concert, but if there are promoters out there please make more of this type of concert available and put Singapore’s best talent in the best venues.
