Hello people.. Am new to electric guitars..

My 21st birthday is coming and my girlfriend+friends are planning to get a electric guitar for me.

I wanna find a good set that is around the range of below $400 if possible because their budget is about only $250  then the rest I planning to pay my own, but I no tell them at all:confused:

I went to Paradiz centre last week with friends, and there's this shop selling electric guitar package including Aria electric guitar, pick, 10watt amp, gig bag, and a beginner tutorial for $230. Adding distortion and delay pedal it will cost bout $350.

Just thinking, if there is any other shop that you guys can recommend me to go shop around and see if there is any other package available ? Just wanting to make sure my first electric guitar can last me a few good years to play with as it's my 21st birthday present ~:D

Citymusic bro!

U can change their guitars with other models too. but maybe nid to top up abit depending on wad u pick. Pedal wise can go davis or tymc at peninsula for some cool cat pedals. or standard value for some beta aivin. IMO.
;) Cheers

ahh great, peace centre, I know how to go :P

hmm , okay, I'll look around.
Songs genre wise I not sure what I will want to play, except for heavy metals/jazz.. mostly rock pop, any specific good electric guitars for that?

pedal wise, i would want a distortion and delay pedal for a start, what brand should I go for too ? :D

Cheers ~

dood almost any guitar will go well with pop and rock. ok just dont get guitars that require battery compartments and have locking nuts. u'll know why as u progress further.

Okay. I planning to get the package with ST-30, but i will replace ST-30 with ST-130!

then final price $363 ah.

oh then then pedal wise leh?

What brand for distortion and delay pedal is good. The price for it too ?

I don't want get kena chop carrot head in the shop

SV is online store right? Is there a store where I can go and see? I don't like ordering stuff online .. bad experience =x

SV isn't an online store. They have an online store for browsing their catalogue. You can either order online or buy directly from their brances.

One's located in woodlands, one in city hall.

if u're testing at SV, just ask mike to test for u and tell him u're a noob. he'll explain everything in detail. if he's not in (which is most of the time nowadays) get a friend to test it out for u. :) if not just test every fret on every string and make sure it all rings out (meaning no dead notes) oh and while testing for dead notes, do be sure to listen to the guitar. make sure u like the tone.

ahh , okay! Will do ;D

Other than the fret, any other thing else?;)
Wanna make sure everything first before heading down, dont want waste time back and fro non stop haha:D

Check out Beta Aivin pedals at Standard Value and SV guitars. Cheap and good. Better than Boss but that's my humble opinion. :)

+ 1 To Beta Aivin.

Have a HM-100 myself, got it for about 55, and honestly, prefer it to my friends ML-2 :)

As for choosing a guitar.... just learn some basic chords, and go play them at the shop, so whichever feels good and sounds good in your hands should be the one :)

check ard the guitar for any cracks esp at the neck joints. i almost bought a guitar a few months back but then i saw a crack at the neck joint. when i asked the guy to remove the neck to my horror, there was another deeper and more obvious crack at the joint :(

Wa, that one is a must to check! Thanks for reminding :p

Like so excited ~ First electric guitar haha

buy marshall amp at Davis guitars. the cheapest is around $90.
For the pedal, why not consider buying 2nd pedals? or buy a multi-effect pedal. I m thinking of buying one for myself. Zoom G1N costs >$150 at blackwood at bras basah. More expensive investments would be G2X.

Just speaking my mind out. =)

Actually for a start you may not really need pedals, amps like marshall would provide a good overdrive. Or go for amps like vox, which would be able to give you a good no. of amp models and effects.

Guitar wise i suggest a squier fat strat from sound alchemy http://www.soundalchemy.com.sg/index.html

They provide an awesome on the spot adjustment of action and setup. Guitar plus amp - 258 + 99 = 350+

Or smash na lite from standardvalue.
