A simple solution is to put triggers on normal acoustic drum toms. After which the recording can be matched with whatever sampled sound you can get your hands on.
I believe focal pro audio does this. You can find their info on soft itself.
To me it quite defeats the purpose as you can sequence the drum track itself. Where as if you do an actual live recording on a acoustic set, you can capture all the characteristic of the drummer's playing. Even electronic sets the level of details are very limited to be captured.
