Electric Acoustic

hi there im new to this community BUT
haha i have some crappy temporary guitar to play with..BUT due to superdupermegagigaultra budget, is it possible to buy some pickup to place it on my acoustic? and use my amp to distort it? so i have an "electric guitar" ?

if so, where to get the pickup.. btw my budget is below $30 best below $20 OMG i dunno the price. thanks all!

Welcome to soft. First, you cannot use an acoustic to blast with your amp. It will sound horrible and will do no good to your amp. Secondly, it is very difficult to get a pickup with your budget. IMHO, you should save up and get yourself an electric guitar.

1. Install pickup, can. There are under-saddle pickups, transducer pickups and magnetic pups (look like electric pup, but 'configured' for acoustic). Do a research on them.

2. You can distort the acoustic guitar's signal, but huge feedback would come from doing so, hence, not recommended.

u can definitely get some brandless pickups with your budget, but it's only for electric guitars.
well, it's not advisable to use an electro-acoustic guitar to play as an electric guitar.
however, u can definitely use an electric guitar as an acoustic guitar with the help of a acoustic simulator, or if u are not the fussy type, just play the electric guitar CLEAN.
that's what i used to do. =)

Ouhh ok then.. so it is still okay to play clean? no gain no distort just as clean as clean. Btw haha ive heard of piezoelectric pickups too. but it needs a preamp?? whats that? smthn connected in da middle to power it up even more?? and also some which uses some "pickup" placed on the soundhole that LOOKS like a electric guitar pickup which have a 1/4 jack plug to plug it in? which better? for a nice acoustic sound?

a nice acoustic sound would require some money buying a top quality acoustic guitar with or without pre-amp/acoustic pickups.
in my opinion, since u're just starting out, piezoelectric pickups isnt necessary. and u should forget abt the idea of using the semi-acoustic guitar as an electric guitar. FULL STOP.
if u wanna get the "best of both worlds" get an electric guitar then.
play acoustic, switch off the drive.
play electric, turn on the drive.
simple.

if u do not really have the money now, save up.
just continue playing your current guitar.
until u have some money, go for something good that you would like.
