EL84 Recommendation (Tiny Terror Content)

I've got a Orange Tiny Terror for sometime but I decided to do a power tube swap to a pair of JJ yesterday upon recommendation that there will be an improvement over the stock china tubes. However, the improvement wasn't what I was looking for. There seems to be a hint more of saturation bu the bass sounded rather undefined and flabby. The tone became more open. After an hour, I decided to go back to the stock tubes.

Anybody has any experience with other EL84 tubes? I'm looking for something that will tighten the bass further.

this is the reason why i dislike EL84 & its derivatives... prefer EL34 instead...

I would suggest u try out tung sol el84s or sovtek M grade el84s (really hi-fi and tight sounding, i am using it in my blackheart bh5 currently). NOS will be great too but may cost u abit. I used JJ el84s before but was pretty disappointed by its muddy nature and flabby bass just like u stated.

Right, EL84M Sovtek is good. Using it in my Mesa, low heat, reliable and clarity. Give it a try.

Thanks for the recommendation. Actually Sovtel El84M was what I was recommended by the shop owners but I bought the cheaper option, not knowinghow muchwillt the power tubes will alter the tone. I will get a pair and pop it in for a try soon.

Alternatively i have heard great things abt ruby el84s if u r looking for a great crunch tone. Highly recommended by other forumites who use the tiny terror as well.
