Kaye. There are loads and loads, what genre do you play?

fade to black easy 8O ?

try those pentatonics based solos , stuff like
pearl jam - alive, yellow ledbetter, i am mine
jimmi hendrix - purple haze..

Or try some beatles songs, their solos are simple nice and easy. George Harrison's licks are easy too but very tasteful.

Or try The Kinks You really Got me.

hey thanks guys! AHAHA.. i have tried some of the songs.. but sheesh i cant play for donkey's sake. :( I have tried some of the oasis songs.. well that's all i can play..

bon jovi - wanted dead or alive, the rhythm part is managable. but the lead might be alittle tough. i just love that acoustic intro riff.

i guess u just have to practise and practise until you get the hang of it.
dun worry, no one can play a solo the moment he/she picked up a guitar right?

now you cant do it....you will in the future..

guitarman78: yeah most probably that's the problem. How should i set my "time-table"? I'm surpose to start out with scales right.. maybe i should learn like 2 scales in a day.. well i have no idea how to start.

redjackal: haha yes practise practise! i'm still trying. :D thanks

a metronone might actually help build up ur speed picking... start at 60bpm, then go on to 90 then 120... do alternate picking... must be concious... up, then down, then up then down... it would be easier to do this on songs with consistent beats...

can use the free metronome online...

You can always start with a good warmup, maybe chromatics, scaling, play along to a metronome, make it a habit, it does help your playing. for me, my warmup routine will be just chugging(quarter, 8ths 16ths, galloping and a mixture) the Low e string for abt 5-10mins to the metronome, with the bpm increasing. then I'll go on to some chromatics to warmup my fretting hand, and then to some scaling, only after this, I'll start on my own stuff, songs, arpeggios etc etc

Have you Ever Seen the rain - The Smokie ... Old songs remixed by the smokie ... the arrangement is different and has a small solo part. catchy tune and rhythmic intro.

Reflection Of my life - Mamalade (sp?) 70s ... good rhythmic ... try get the later ver with solo ... more re-arrangement for this songs too :D

Some accoustic - Now and Forever - Richard Marc, Love Me - Colin Raye, Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton, just to name a few

happy plucking ...

Frankly, I never knew how to use a metronome while practising, still don't.
I just practise the scales and whatever songs that I fancy repeatedly, parts by parts, slowly.
Any tips on how to best practise with the metronome?
Why fix a rigid training timetable?
I've always preferred having some freedom. Playing and practising whatever I like and having a ball of a time.

well i'm currently startin on scales, the most i can go is tempo 280. aah well. heh. hopefully i'm using the metronome the right way.

280 is very very fast. but i m not sure if u play 1 note per beat or 4 note per beat. cause usually i do 4 note per beat and at 104, i m stucked already.
