Aloz...I'm new here so i tot i'd simply start my first thread on soft...

Diz 4 all u drummers out there...

Juz wanna say dat i suddenly have the upmost respect 4 those of u knockin on the snares n hi-hats...

I've been in 2 or 3 bands b4 with drummers whom i consider as pretty gd...

Jamming sessions have always been as fun as possible...

Nevertheless...tightness of the band wasn't alwayz der

Till one fine day, we had a sessionist drummer come in 2 play 4 us 4 a while

Blew me away with his precision timing n eccentric beats...

All of a sudden, e same songs dat we played b4 sounded better then b4 n we wer definitely having a blast !!

Every riff and snare was strummed and hit respectively at e right timing...

I donno dat many drummers but dat wuz definitely e best jam session dat i ever had !!

Now i truly believe dat a band is definitely only as gd as their drummer !!

But really though, drummers are really the backbone of the band, musically speaking. No matter how good the individual players in the band are, if the drummer is weak and can't really deliver, the whole band suffers. This is true with any band of any genres but especially metal bands. I've seen a lot of good metal bands let down by drummers that can be better. And a good drummer also makes you a better player, if let's say you are a bassist or a guitarist, you in turn acquire a better sense and timing and tightness in playing that helps you progress to another level. I've played with quite a few drummers (good and mediocre) before and it only reinforces my sentiments on this subject.

at least somebody 'spects the drummer, lol. as a newbie drummer I'm still learning and there's so much I have to improve on. but I look at the pros and realise they really do so much in their bands. it applies to all the instruments, I guess. every instrument has a different role to play.

wahaha. look at all that pitiful metal bands who can keep time so well but wheres all the rest of the solos and stuff? all the members r important. if drummers were all important then let them play alone. if any instruments r more important let them take the stage alone. wat a sight for sore eyes.

bands with great drummers will also be mediocre at best, if the vox/guit/bassist is crap.
I am a firm believer that no one instrument is more impt than the other.
