Drum Lessons

Hi all,

Just want to know whether Yamaha is a good place to learn drums. Well, I actually can play ABIT but co-ordination still needs abit of work. Have been jamming to metallica, so that's how I got started really, actually I play more of the guitar. So, lets say if I really do go to Yamaha, do I sign up for the beginners class or can I show them what I can do 1st before they commit me to a class? I have never taken any lessons before so I'm not sure how this goes about.

Thanks in advance guys.

Yamaha has a fixed syllabus so you just sign up and then I suppose you can show your teacher what you can do then maybe he'll skip the first bits, or just run through them really fast. It depends I suppose, for me I think Yamaha is good because it gives you quite a well rounded education, like basics in many genres and then after that they'll provide material based on what you want to specialise in. The con is mainly high fees and short lesson time.

heys! haha i took drums level 1 grp lessons at yamaha in jan.. do u have any theory background? IMO if u dun haf any, it'll be a little hard to catch wad the teacher is teaching cos he cant reli focus on u alone so if u dun get it, u'll be kinda lost. this for is for grp lessons though. im not vry sure for indiv classes but i suppose u'll be more able to clarify during indiv classes than grp ones..
