Dear Softies

Dear Softies,

Do go for this clinic...although many of you may not know her. I'll be paying & going, that's for sure.

In this broad world of music, its time to allow ourselves to be exposed to more musicians that we have yet to know, more styles of music and different instruments!

As there is always something new to experience or learn when we stay receptive...So... friends... let's go for as many clinics, festivals & music events!

Come to think of it, instead of keep asking who's going, let me start the ball rolling. Keep the list going. : )

For those who didn't go, I'll do a brief recap of what she did. Not a very consise one! Please bear with me.

She played a lot with a few tracks. She plays more of funk and latin grooves. She mentioned that she plays jazz lesser. She showed us one of her practice routine which goes like: bass drum on 1 and 3. Hihat foot on 2 and 4. Hands (played on the snare) will play single strokes, double strokes, paradiddles, triplets at crotchet. Then she'll play the same rudiments at quavers, semiquavers and demiquavers.

She also played some samba, songo and some afrocuban grooves. She said that when playing with track, we should imagine that they are live musicians. Don't overplay especially when other instruments are soloing.

Correct me if I mentioned anything wrong and feel free to add in what I miss out. I met Tama and Jason at the clinic! We got a free t-shirt!
