Just quitted lessons at yamaha cos the lessons are inflexible and mundane. so yeah, on my own now.

how to you guys learn? any good books or CDs to recommend and where can i get them?

haha i would say lessons are of utmost importance if you wish to excel to a certain level. hm.. you could buy the dexterity book which im using now. i thought it wasnt good but it actually has a lot of exercises that could keep you busy.

and yea yamaha isn't good. they go really slow, no offence. i quit after one lesson.

hmm there are many books around but i don't know which ones are better.. and where do u suggest to go for lessons then?

i'll check out the books and get right back to you. jimmy lee? he's an excellent teacher and i believe its 40dollars an hour? affordable.

if Mr Jimmy Lee's too busy you could always find Mr Tony Zee or Mr Hensen Beng... excellent superheros.

if you are taught by Mr Beng, he will pass to you a book that has really a lot of stuff to check out. he teaches from that book, but teaches much more than the book shows.

i got Drummers' Bible, and 4-way coordination. still would recommend a teacher though. didn't make much headway until i got under Mr Beng, and everything just went ZOOM. besides, a book full of notes don't really motivate you to play until you see what they can do for you musically. till then they will just be really technical stuff that is really great to achieve, yet the journey would be dry and mundane.

then again, Mr Beng is not really one who teaches technique, but more of like being a versatile player. he don't really go into grip and all. that one, Mr Jimmy Lee the man...

yea just go for either one. 40dollars is not expensive at all, mines 65 at drum resources, im there cause the teachers good and im supporting Drum Resources hahah
