Hey guys,
Am absolutely new to drumming.. never taken lessons, and play purely for the passion! I just bought a double-bass pedal, a cheapish one from ranking - looked pretty cool with double chains on each pedal, but the beaters felt like crap - they didn't have soft heads; they were rubber or plastic or something.
Anyway, I have a pearl rhythm traveler - so everything's in your face.. or at your feet - coz the cymbal stands are right next to the bass drum, which is just 8 inches in depth! Had a hard time setting it up, coz it kept interfering with the hi hat stands or cymbal stands or the snare stands. And my big feet didn't help! Any suggestions on placement?
Next question.. what the hell do you do with the hi hat when you plan using a double bass? Leave it closed (and loose?).. in which case, the hi hat pedal is of no use!.. Or do you leave it open? In which case, its more like a tiny ride!.. Can't possibly adjust it while playing, so have no clue where to start. Any help appreciated!
thanks.
