Do you think what they did is right?

i guess the boss wanna sell the broken bridge for extra income. haha yea if i were you, i'd feel cheated. wanna start a fight club? lets go get back that bridge!

granny who seems to know nuts about guitar? Shop that does repairs?
I think most of us can hazard a guess at which shop it is.

You have the right to get back your old bridge.
You OWN it. It doesn't belong to them no matter what. Unless you sold it to them.

However, we're assuming you:-

Paid in full for a new bridge , no trade ins
Paid in full for the installation

And so you deserve to get back what you've paid for that came with the guitar.

What the heck man, they jacking you off your bridge.

No pun intended.

In all my years of repairing for ppl and installing pups etc - I even give back the original box (that the new stuff came in) together with the replaced old parts, old screws, washers etc etc rite down to the last piece of wire that I am replacing backto the owner.

If you PAID for a NEW bridge. U MUST get your old faluty bridge back. Legally IT'S STILL YOUR PROPERTY.

If they MERELY repaired YOUR OLD BRIDGE then its a seperate issue. You need to clarify this.

If you have a receipt from the shop (e.g -receipt says - purchase & installation of NEW bridge etc) .. but they ONLY repaired your faulty bridge and STILL charged you for a new one, then you can try CASE (consumer association).

FGL which guitar shop do you work in?

I dont work in any shop. I hang out at Dan Music (its on the 4th floor) but I dont do repairs or stuff anymore - just consultancy work for Dan for "problem" jobs etc .... Prviously I used to do pick up installation (accoustic / electric) & wiring work for Davis (still do the very odd, odd cases for them) a well as paint jobs and other custom work for Beez (then of Yamaha combo showroom) and of course for Dan. Nowdays I'm too lazy to work on anything but my own project guitars.

BTW U'd be surprised how many other guitar shops used to and still currently send or sub out their repair cases to Dan. Of course, I cant mention any names lah.

Dei! FIrst thing to come to mind is that it's a communication problem. She's problably afraid to say yes and then cannot commit and then get into trouble. At her age, it's not going to be easy to find another job. You gotta cut her some slack.

At fault would be the other shop folks for not preparing your old bridge for you when you came to pick up your guitar. Just chill and talk to the shop folks, I'm sure you'll get it back.

i guess the granny is the owner mum hahaha anw i'm just to lazy to go get it back to go all the way back to penisula ....anw he said i can get it back ..lol so it's fine now:pmayb the shop owner saw this thread :X

maybe she did not know..like what Rork has said...and if the owner has said that he would give you back your bridge, then why are you complaining..?
it was prob some miscommunication
Any guitar shop,no matter, should give back the spoilt or broken items to their customers after their guitar has been repaired..that`s what i believe in anyway.
so give the old lady some slack:)

Sorry to hear about ur shop bro, hope the perpetrators are apprehended soon.

Seriously, sometimes there are some really "havoc" characters hanging around in Peninsula, even on the 4th floor floor. Just last week some guys & gals were playing really roughly and splashed soya source all over the shops near the lift on the 4th floor (accidently or not, I donno lah). A few months back, some guys blanket partied each other (as well as the whole lift 4th floor area) with birthday cake - total chaotic mess).

Security needs to be beefed up in peninsula sc!
