do i need to learn classical guitar 1st?

hi, i always want to learn to play guitar. i found a lot of sites pertaining to guitar tutorial and lesson but I got no idea what they are talking about.

i am interested in electric guitar, do I need to learn classical guitar 1st?

actually u dont need to unless u wanna learn classical guitar style...

go to any online site, start picking up some simple chords and strumming pattern, and u be on ur way to playing songs...

songs like lips of an angel, you're beautiful, look what u've done, superman, blind are all easy songs u can play

No, unless you WANT to learn classical guitar. Dispel this old school of thoughts! Gone are the days when you want to learn to play like EVH, and your parents sent you to Yamaha to play classicals with nylons on a foot stool.....because it was more "high class" and "decent". :lol:

But...there are also some great rock guitarists who started out with classicals or jazz. So can't definitely say it's wrong. :wink:
