Thursdays are the new Fridays! This week it's a return to House for DJ SKRATCHMARK, back in town for one week only armed with a fearsome arsenal of disco, hip hop, funk and soul. Cheeky floor-fillers and jump-up anthems all the way!
A true success story from the ground up, SKRATCHMARK's development is as organic as it gets. His genuine affection for the culture, in all its forms, has always been apparent, even before all the gear. With tapes and records shoved into every crevice of the car and spilling out from under the chairs, SKRATCHMARK was always armed with tracks for every occasion. This underground gem was soon invited to bless local San Diego parties with his flair, and it was only a matter of time until his sets were heard all along the California coast. His eclectic selections are rooted in a healthy combination of cross-era Hip Hop but it doesn’t stop there. The sprinklings of R&B/soul, reggae, rock, 80’s/90’s classics and funk; a taste of broken beat/downtempo and throwbacks to where it all began, his homeland of Northern California Bay Area, is proof of a mindful DJ with an appreciation for pure artistic quality.
Now, after more than six years in the industry, SKRATCHMARK is currently exploring Asia, bringing his music to an even bigger audience, and adds Creative Director for STEAK Productions — an events and promotions company that aims to educate the Manila on all facets of urban culture — to his list of achievements. He has done two international tours (in the US and Canada) and his influence is heard at various “place-to-be” venues and landmark events, including his residencies and guest appearances at some of Asia’s hottest spots. With his successful foray into the regional scene, sharing the stage with some of the best in the industry, the likes of DJ Apollo, DJ Shortkut and APL of the Black Eyed Peas, this seasoned talent is well on his way to worldwide success.
