dont know if this is the right section...

But I am looking for a dj midi controller to run with Virtual DJ.

Been looking at Numark's mixtrack for its portability.

Hercules mp3 e2 also, but i doubt its available in singapore.

Any recomendations? below 300 is best available locally too.

Behringer BCD2000/3000, where?

THANKS

Portunderground : we don't have many (any?) djs here so not many of us would be of help.. But I often walk past those dj shops at simlim square you may wanna ask around with em?

Midi controllers are not cheap if you're talkin about good ones.. I got my denon dnmc6000 which can work with virtual dj also but it's a lil expensive like 1k plus. I suggest you think long term for purchasing one controller cuz it's the trend in djing now.

Price is not the issue. Passion is. :p

I used to DJ commercially, and ALOT till a couple of years back, when Final Scratch had just made it big. Now I think it's Serato.
I don't know enough about most of these controllers, also I have played with a Stanton one at the Technics store on Level 1 at Sim Lim. Despite being well over SGD 2K, I found it strictly OK. But it could well have been a Stanton issue; I tried their players and found them quite a joke, and ended up paying more than double the money for a pair of CDJ800MK2s.

I know of people using the BCD3000 (i think the BCD2000 is long gone!) and are more than happy with it, given how much they've paid for it (the level of your expectations make the difference in this case). You can call this guy Sean on 96261687 for any Behringer gear; I hear he works with the distributors.

In any case, I hear that the case with all these MIDI controllers is that you'll get some delay -- think how playing an MP3 CD works on a Denon4000 or Denon4500.

Based on incomplete knowledge of the industry today, my suggestion would be to consider buying a Serato interface. It needn't be the latest, but one version older than the latest should work just fine too. It gives you far more flexibility in terms of gear that you play your mp3s on. Can use on Denons, Pioneers, those cheapo Numark / Gemini players, and most importantly even on analog Technic turntables.

If you HAVE to get yourself a controller only, then my suggestion would be to look at what's in the US. Use services like HopShopGo (or even Singpost has something like VPost or something.. Google it) to ship it to Singapore. More variety, and perhaps cheaper than buying locally.

The last 2 may be out of your budget, but I say this based on my past experience -- If you must choose between a Pioneer and an Equivalent Denon, choose the Pioneer. It will be well worth the extra few 100 dollars.

Yup! I do agree with him, esp if you are gonna work in a club, you shld get either tractor or serato's interface. Most club uses serato though.

anyway, midi controllers have it's own advantage too, kinda light. Good for small events. Perhaps, you may wanna check out more from this shop below.

here's one of the dj shops which i <3 the most!

hope this helps. :)

Move from serato to tracktor...
Tracktor are able to do the followings,
-Quantized Beatjump
-Quantized looping
-tempo sync'ed samplers
-Fx flexibility
-midi routing and mapping options
-low latency
And personally i feel that,
it can provide more capabilities to be creative to give the best performance.
