Hmm I've been thinking about DIY fx pedals too - much cheaper than the store-bought ones.

yea..but i think ill start with something small first...
think im gonna make patch cables first as i have a very long unused cable.
then hopefully before the end of the year, ill attempt a re-housing of my danelectro coolcat pedal...
then we'll see how from there=)...
btw victor, have you done any building thus far?

Made a footswitch for my amp, that's all 
I'm thinking of buying the cool cats too, but turned off by the design. What cool cat do you have? Apparently rehousing it is a little difficult because the potentiometers are attached to the circuit board and the LED is difficult to remove.

They have got kits for sale, ships to singapore too
They also provide instructions and schematics and wiring diagram etc if you want to attempt to purchase your own parts and wire it yourself. You can get parts from sim lim tower

Can be cheap too BUT you will soon start thinking better than boutique quality and better than boutique parts..that is where the cost come in.
Thereafter, you start getting fanciful over your housing...that lead to buying expensive equipments.
Then, you start going into repair..you start buying logic probe and scope....more $$$....
Never ending cycle.
Effect are still cheap to build...Tube amp are NOT. Main cost will be transformers...easily $200+ for a pair of power and output...more so if you go into Hifi Amp building.
Always cheaper to buy.
Thereafter, you start getting fanciful over your housing...that lead to buying expensive equipments.
