hi i now hav a SX SST62 which i got at davis and i tink that the pickups really suck..... i am tinking of change it so is dimarzio or seymour duncan better :?: :D

that's really quite subjective. but i would recommend SD first for more authentic strat tones. Dimarzio tends to be more modern and innovative in their pickup designs while SD tends to be more of capturing the classic tones.

if u want something like malmsteen's tone try dimarzio's malmsteen one. if u want something fat and modern try dimarzio maybe tonezone? if u want something classic SD would be good...

personally, i feel there's no such thing as a sucky pickup. U just have to spend more with ur axe and start appreciating it's pickup. All my pickups are stock. i mean, if u think the pickup on your guitar is not to your liking, why purchase that guitar in the first place? erm...

cuz money is a big problem

money is not the issue man. just practice hard. spending $3000++ on a guitar won't make anyone a guitar god.

give your SX SST62 to steve vai. guess what? likely he'll still sound like steve vai. blind fold all the audience and they wouldn't know the difference!

spend more time with ur axe. u might just find something special bout it.

u could try a JB-Jr on the bridge. personally i do have a bit of a love-hate with that JB sound but i must admit the modern-clarity /w distortion tone is something that many players will be happy with.

heck, i'm going to try and see if i can adapt to that tomorrow.

there's no 'better' pickup per se, it's a matter of accepting what each manufacturer has to offer. suppose you are buying shoes now, then it'd be- which is better, Adidas/ Nike? they are both shoes to begin with...

a good check would be to ask yourself what kinda tone you are after, we'll help you further from there.
