can i ask and know what's the difference between 4, 5, 6 and more strings of guitars? what does the strings affect about?

difference in numbers.

max cavalera from soulfly uses only 4 strings on his guitar.
some acoustic too have 4 strings or lesser.
not only acoustic, some are electric.

5 stringed guitar? hrrmm.. probably some guitar has it. not really sure why.

6 string guitar and more? ..
