Difference between single coil and double coil...??

Hi ppl, I just bought a fender strat lately, its using 3 single coil pickups, but when compared to my other guitar which uses humbuckers, the sustain is not as long, why is this so?? I´m sorta disappointed as the strat is more costly, so I expected the sound to be better...

Or is it meant to be like this? Double coil gives better sustain then single coil? Thats why Im trying to find out the differences...

i think that shud give u a fair understanding of the differences in pick-ups and the reason for the sustain. post some pics of ur fender

sometimes it is not the guitar usually, depends on your effects and equipments. Fender is sligtly different with fatter tone and twang which is kinda impossible for ´some´ guitars to immitate. Seriously do some good settings for that strat. Alot of rock/metal guitarists using fenders and they seem quite satisfied with their investments. try it out, make full use of it, it´s a worthwhile guitar.
