Difference between Floyd Rose and strats trem

It has always doubting me about the Floyd Rose tremolo and the strats tremolo. Do they sound different instead of the design and the way of using it?

hmm how can i simplfy this...
floyds are the evolution of trems...
cause during the good old hair metal dayz people like to play with the trems then most of them got fed up about it going off-tune...
then mr floyd rose(the genious who invented floyds) realised that the reason trems go off-tune ezly is because of the friction in both the tuning pegs and nut...
then mr floyd rose used some metal thingy and screw to lock the nut so the string wont move...(therefore the invention of the locking thing at the nut) then he realised that there was a big improvement then he made a company then the rest u should know XD.... fyi the 1st floyd prototype(non-double locking) was made on a les paul... a bigsby as the trem and the nut locking thing...

OK bottom line is
With the floyds, you can go both up and down in pitch without going offtune. The trems u can go down only but might go offtune. Depending on the style of Rose, some have string locks on the saddle and fine tuners on the bridge.Floyd's can be a real ARSE to set up while trems are pretty simple to set up...

some people would say trems have a bluesy kindda tone while floyds are more for metal cause it has a thicker sound?(idk)...but i dont see any diff haha

owh yea for sustain and tone i remember reading at soft along tyme ago...
if u change the block to a thicker block and to a diff material like copper? u could get a better and meaner tone haha

ok hope i get the info right.... if wrong paisay haha
this was based on memory..might get some info wrong
cause i read something like this last year when i was researching bout floyds and trems... plz correct me if im wrong XP

Actually the only difference IMHO is the versatility. Floyds have the ability to bend up or down, as mentioned previously while vintage trems, as strat trems are often called, can only bend down. The FR also can bend much more than a vintage trem.

What i don't agree with is the tuning stability. Just look at MOST licensed FRs out there that come stock on TGMs or Ibanez GIOs. Do they stay in tune when abused? No way. However, they're based on the same design. Even some (not all) original FRs have that tuning stability. My fav FRs are of course the Ibanez EDGE series, those are the best FRs i've ever used. Tops in tuning stability, which is always the major concern for me when using FRs.

If i'm wrong, please feel free to comment. In general, stay away from cheap licensed FRs, go for EDGE or Gotoh/Schaller units. Those are better in terms of QC.

i agree!thats y i said depending on the floyds
cheap floyds=sucky tuning stability....
NEVER go for single locking floyds the one that doesnt have the locking string thing at the saddle.... yea it might seem tempting cause its ard $50 but its not worth it hahaha

floyd rose have single locking? I thought the string at the saddle u must cut the ball end and put it in and lock it? standard what for all traditional designed FR no meh?

yea theres a single locking floyd's...it kindda look like a double locking floyd(u can get ezly fooled lol )
How it works? well u can say its a hybrid between a les paul stop peice thing and the floyd... slide in(like u would do on a les paul no need cut the ball end).. lock the neck... and ur ready to go...i bought one of those b4 at ranking sports...
yea ard 50 buck there.. end up tuning, intonation like >.<... then luckly i got a spare acoustic guitar the bridge come out lol tgm acoustic what to do.....i drilled some holes stick some wood... and voula i have a cheapo floyd(non-moving) acoustic guitar..hahaha

that reminds me... y cut the ball end? i put the ball end at the tuning pegs hahaha it acts as a lock for the tuning pegs....
