Diff between Strat pickups - Texas Specials and Alnico

What's the difference between these two pickups? Which one will get be closer to SRV / Los Lonely Boys / John Mayer territory?

i think texas specials will get you close.
also pairing that with a fender tube amp will yield best results.

Yep, Texas Specials will get you the SRV and Los Lonely Boys vibe. They do the overwound single coil pups and heavy string guage thing so upping the string gauge will help get that explosive single coil sound. I read somewhere that the Los Lonely Boys guitar player puts .11's and Texas Specials on all his guitars.

Not sure about John Mayer, but going by the "v" shape EQ of the pickups in his Fender signature, the Alnico will be the better choice. You won't exactly get the classic brilliant strat sound from the Texas Specials.

Actually I tried the highway 1 today, din really like the sound, maybe it was the amp or something. My fren's CIJ with texas, I like..

Alnicos in general are associated with smoother highs. If you'd like to tame a too bright tone, alnico could be a solution.
