DD-7 or Nova Repeater/Delay?

Hi, I'm looking to purchase either of the abovementioned pedal for my 'still-in-the-works' grab and go rig, which is likely to be housed on a PT Mini.

I'd like some opinions on either pedal from anyone who has used either pedal. I have never owned a Boss delay, but have had good experiences with their products, such as the RC-2. As for TC, I currently use a Nova System on my larger board, and have been really happy with the pristine delays.

However, the Nova Repeater is MUCH harder to procure at a reasonable price (the local dealer's price is far from ideal), but if I manage to get the Repeater shipped in somehow, it will be cheaper than getting a DD-7 + Tap Tempo switch.

The Nova Delay is harder to power at 12V (I don't want to use a PP2+ or Supacharger on my PT Mini, preferably a 1Spot), while the DD-7 should run fine on my 1Spot.

Opinions anyone?

It will be more expensive shipping in a TC Nova unless its preowned i would think. DD7 is pretty respectable , dd7 + the tt would be cheaper i believe then the Nova Delay/Repeater. Well in my case the dd7 is good enough for most of my needs. But it really depends on what your willing to spend on.

Well, actually, the Repeater costs 169USD = 250SGD or so.

The DD-7 would cost about 270 SGD or so after adding in the cost of the tap tempo switch.

NachociousD: Does the DD-7 'kill' your tone when it is bypassed? Does it do nice modulated delays? Can it do dotted eighths when you tap in quarter notes?

actually.. i cant hear a difference in my tone sadly!

modulated delay's nice on this, but its not exactly on the subtle side. i like it this way..

can.

get a 2nd hand dd7, should be at 210+...

I'm using a DD-7. Analogman has debunked the myth (do a search on TGP for this) the DD7's bypass is pure analog and your dry signal passes through FET transistors without going through any A/D convertors. Hence there is no degradation of signal besides the usual Boss buffer (which adds more clarity to my signal when used last in the chain i feel).

For TC's stuff its a different story. Your signal is entirely processed by the AD/DA signal convertors converting your dry signal to digital. Some may like it, some don't. I knew I didnt when I tried the nova delay. It seemed to alter my tone completely and my strat became really bright and plasticy sounding - yuck). Havent tried the repeater but I guess it should pretty much be the same thing. Coupled with power issues(i use a fuel tank jr), it was a no-go for me.

I like the dd7 cos of its smaller footprint, no power supply issues, quiet, no tone suck and nice clear repeats. Dotted 8's are also possible in 800ms mode with tap tempo. The analog DM2 modelling mode was also a nice addition - I used it in my band's recording as a subtle tone sweetener for most of the lead and rhythm parts. You can check it out under my signature (automated time machine) to get a rough idea. Nice, dark sounding and warm. Almost couldnt tell the difference between an actual DM2 when i a/bed both.
