DarkThrone ( now and then...)

Gorgor

New member
Band : DARKTHRONE
Genre : Norweigan Black Metal

Over the years , ive been listening to Darkthrone.
But after listening to their album ' lovelovelovelove off And Die ' / F.O.A.D., i notice a change of their music. The album got a punkish feel to it. And it sounds like a Crust Punk band to me. Just asking....softies , do u prefer Darkthrone original Black Metal roots or Darkthrone now Crust-Punk-Metal???

i like both .

I took almost like half a year or more to digest the latest incarnation of Darkthrone, but then I realised, its not really an evolution to forget what they are made of or what they stand for, but rather their new direction is somewhat back to quite the basics of how metal and extreme metal came to be, with a modern touch. they still have their unrivalled Darkthrone flavour though. Their latest single just hit, and yet again I'm taking time to digest it. haha

Well from their Old album like Transilvania hunger and the new ones is totally different
Yet they have those distorted kinda sound on their guitar.
But i still prefer the old Darkthrone.

New Dark Throne

I recently aquired the earliest "tape recording on CD" of Dark Throne's EP. The legendary songs Thulcandra and Land of Frost are included in the rawest and evilest form.

That was just black metal at it's truest. \m/

With the change in direction is neither good or bad; you really to understand and empathize where the band is coming from.

You can't expect a band to play the same music for 20 years without progression. As a musician/music player, you can't afford to stay stagnent. You got to have new inspirations and direction to spice up your musicality.

If Crust Punk's the way to go for Dark Throne, as a fan, I'll support them.

as they got older they got funnier besides gettin crustier hahaha......FOAD is good fun w a sick evil smirk n 3rd finger. Canadian Metal......wat a song haha

with these 2 chaps at the helm, it's not about a change in musical direction; it's about choice. they want their music to be punk tinged this time round. the way i see it, it's cyclical.

FYI, They started to play black metal when they recorded A Blaze In The Northern Sky. that was their first classic album that dominated the black metal era in the early 90.. their old stuffs were purely old school death metal that most of the norwegian black metal bands began before they started to play black metal in the early 90s like Immortal. well, Darkthrone will always be playing their own lovelovelovelovelovelovelove music and like it or not.. its up to individual..
