Hi fellas
I'm actually looking around to buy this pedal (prefer 2nd hand) and there's an asking price of $60 for it (its a 2nd hand unit too ).
Sounds like he wants to "ketok ppl"

Does anyone know what the current retail price going around for a 1st hand unit?

Regrets that I dont have the convenience to browse around (everyone here wants to come along....) and "do the homework", as they say, but I believe its less than what he's asking for.

Appreciate the help folks.

Whut. It retailed for 27bucks at Davis. Don't buy the FAB series. It sucks so bad. It got replaced by the Cool Cat series. The Cool Cat series is just as cheap and is MUCH better.

I've checked out the reviews on "You Toobe" for the FAB series and was fairly impressed.
and think it should sound acceptably OK with a H-S-H gtr coupled with the L6-Spider.

Not thought about the Cool Cat series tho but since you mentioned it cost about the same, it worth looking into.
... let me check the youtube reviews for this.

... after all I'm just a bedroom gtr player & not asking much "tone wise" - lah :)

i used to own this pedal- IMO, best avoided. the current Cool Cat series are superb for the money. regardless of what we see & hear on YouTube, a personal encounter would be the best measure to judge equipment.

Funny this should pop on on Soft ... I just bought a Cool Cat Metal pedal from Davis Guitar yesterday, actually! And I daresay that it packs a surprisingly intense amount of power for a $36 pedal (yes, that's how much it cost). Don't let the price fool you!

You did mention that you don't have time to browse around ... my suggestion is to not literally "browse" around but to actually approach someone at a shop to help you out. It saves you a lot of time and you learn a lot of things that you might otherwise take years to figure out. Don't be afraid to ask shop assistants, especially at places like Davis Guitar or Swee Lee where the staff are trained to help all ranges of musicians out and are especially in the know (it doesn't hurt that most of them are pretty decent musicians themselves). That's at least as far as my experience tells me but yeah don't be afraid to ask!

Note of warning: the CC pedal I bought is kept on low setting at home because it threatens to blow up your house when you turn it up a little too much XD The knobs are designed in a 'cut-and-boost' manner though that's slightly complicated to understand at first ... I would suppose, though, that it's merely an issue of having to get familiar with the controls.

Tks for all the tips.

I've actually owned a couple of dist/od pedals way back when i was 'active'.
Mostly BOSS pedals (the OD, DS, HM) with a pedalboard, Rocktron, incl. Toneworks MFX, Korg MFX, Zoom MFX. The BEST was BOSS HM of course! Theres bite
Had to let them go.... *sniff*

I'm the type to decide what the options are first , go there, test them out with minimum fuss, pick one, come home with it and then blow up the house.

What I'm looking for should be affordable & is just for the 'bedroom'. No need for a top-of-the-line-scare-the-neighbours-invite-the-police-blow-your-brains-out-showboating type of pedal.

BTW, The CC series looks good and is now an option. Suits the budget as well.
Anyone wants to let go of one?

Psst...... when I say, everyone here wants to come along, it means EVERYONE in the family.
And for every minute I spend in the shop, they'd go.... "ARE WE DONE YET?"
Its hard when you're 'naughty' y'know.

I gave away my Fab Metal together with some other stuffs I no longer use to a fellow SOFT user sometime in April this year... Damn. :(
