crowther audio hotcake vs zvex box of rock?

how would these two compare?
are they similar in sound, or very different animals?
would appreciate any comments. =)

the hotcake is an overdrive pedal whereas the box of rock is a marshall amp based distortion pedal.

they are 2 different types.

I tried the Hotcake yesterday and was not impressed at all. Cheap looking knobs... there is a sudden jump of gain from 12 to 1 o'clock... pretty odd for an OD type pedal... sounds too generic to me. Box of Rock on the other hand is great... but can the Bass can get flubby at times. You should try both in a nice Tube Amp to hear the different.. but in my opinion, Box of Rock wins.
