Could SOFT.COM organise its own gig pls?

There are so many gigs organised that use soft.com as a platform for spreading awareness, yet i find it strange that soft.com doesn't organise its own gigs...

... or at least a gig with its official affiliation.

The reason i say this is bcos there have been more than one gig i have been that is all over-hype but no substance. Ironically it is the more enthusiastic gig publicities that turn out to be the ones that fizzle. If soft.com with its reputation organises its own "endorsed" gig, the audience and artists can be assured the turn out would be good quality.

Also, soft.com is becoming well regarded is a recognised avenue for local music lovers; musicians and listeners alike. There is a thread that is initiating a get-together for the forumers and readers, so why not make it into a full-scale gig altogether?

Judging from the number of gig organisers, bands, and reputation of soft.com, this could become one huge gig that brings local musicians together...

THE GIG OF GIGS FOR BUDDING SINGAPORE MUSICIANS... maybe a once yearly thing.

hey ho let`s go!!!!!!!

well...to me Rocking Resolutions 2005 was considered a soft.com gig......coz all the bands are regulars here....n here is where we met them....

WHERE WERE U BACK THEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Without media coverage, the only people that turn up would be the bands, their friends and the the tech crew.
The media plays an important part in information.
Well yes, we can have a big event, but if we don't even have flyers to distribute telling people about any event, than you expect a big turnout?

Either that or a fixed venue and programme line up (eg. week1 - indie/pop, week2 - alternative/rock, week3 - metal, week4 - mixed).

Like that the following will slowly grow, and soon media will also cover it.

hey ho let`s go!!!!!!!

well....u guys forgot abt the most important n relevant thing.....SPONSORS?!?!?!?!
or u guys would gladly pay to play like wat we did in RR2005??

Re: hey ho let`s go!!!!!!!

aight here goes... this gonna ruffle some feathers but i should mention it anyhows.

finding sponsors is the responsibility of the organisers and its committee. its selfish of me to simply say they shoulder the responsibility while i rant about wanting to play in a gig...

but hey thats how it is.

good example, College Rock Fest. If Exon Mobil can sponsor such a small event, then it only means its definitely possible to find sponsors with a little hard work.

sponsors on their hand will benefit from their publicity, organisers will benefit monetarily (if any).

i'm against the idea of paying to play... but hey if the sponsorship is so low and this gig is a must play, then i will consider.

then again if the gig is a must play i don't see how come they couldn find sponsors for it.

before u go flaming me about how little i know about organising events and finding sponsors... i DO know. Happens all the time in uni.

I don't think the problem of sponsorship is a big problem. As long as you can sell the idea and convince any rich fellas, I'm sure the $$$ will come in.
But there isn't really much support in the local music scene unless someone outsources and makes the effort.
