Late Nite
Soundtrack for a book
by Concave Scream
Esplanade Recital Studio
$25
“[Concave Scream] have a lot of naïve aggression and a dirty kind of sound, which I think makes them a lot more credible than the other pop acts which seem to be singing just for the sake of singing, with no real point of view.” – Malcolm McLaren, The Straits Times
One of the longest-playing acts on the local music scene, Concave Scream has been in continuous existence since 1994, despite band members who have come and gone. The genesis of this well-regarded veteran outfit can be traced back to one fateful December day that year, when Sean and Pann – the two founders who had known each other since junior college – decided to kick off a musical collaboration.
Now back to perform at Esplanade again, the 15 year-old band will showcase its fifth and most adventurous project to date: an album entitled Soundtrack for a Book. It is the band’s first fully instrumental offering of 43 minutes of music without vocals.
