Combo amps and line outs

Hey guys, quick question.

You guys know some combo amps have line outs right? Well, I was thinking, can I use the line out to cabs?

And, for recording purposes, if I line out the combo amp to my DAW, do I still need a cab simulator and a power dump?(seeing as the combo amp is 100w)

You can't run line out to cabs, because line out isn't powered. If your combo has an extension cabinet out, that will work.

If you're recording, you will still need a cab sim post line out. No need for power dump cos your amp is still powering it's speaker. I would run the line out into a DI before going to the audio interface.

Don't mix line out and speaker out up. You could seriously damage your equipment.

Thanks man, so by that theory, I use the amp extension to DI into my DAW? The amp I'm getting has a extension.
