Hey guys, I was at Peninsula setting my guitar up recently and if any of you have been there these past couple of weeks you might have known that the Elixir Nanoweb 11s are virtually sold out there. The lady at Davis recommended me Cleartone EMP, and the guy at Music Theme recommended Ernie Ball Coated. I was quite insistent that I wanted to try Elixir's legendary tone, and I wasn't about to pay 20 over dollars to "just try something else lah".
Could I have your opinions as to the goods and bads about these three coated string brands? I'm using a Maestro SD-1, where mahogany is the primary wood, and from what I know it's a rather hard wood that produces hard, straightforward, and sometimes screechy tones when played. (Correct me if I'm wrong...?)
I'm primarily concerned about tone, although I understand that the coating helps in quiet sliding, and I'd like to know if there are any differences there as well.
Thanks you guys!
