I've been trying to learn some theory about the chord formation and stuff. I realized for several chords I would have to omit some of the note and such. So is it always the 1st and 3rd which is omitted and when do I know i have to omit the notes?
I've got a reference from here http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Guitar/Chords/Full_List_Standard_Tuning.
But I'm rather confused as to which notes to fret and play. My question is that for those really weird chords like say G#m11 or something, which notes do I omit and does the position of the notes i fret affect in anyway ( as in must I fret in order like 1 b3 5 7 or can I just rearrange it and as long i have those notes it is right?)
Like say those chords with altered bass C/G or something, the triads would be?
Sorry man guitar theory noob here, lots of questions unanswered.
