hifi_killer said:ok from the other thread i assume u wanted a non-electric guitar.
some tips:
1.size does matters. Usually the bigger its is the better the sound
2.Try to get solid top guitars, as they age , they sound even mellower.
3.The action, or the height of the strings from the fretboard. I was once a newbie and i got pretty pissed with the damn high action of my acoustic. It hurts ur fingers alot especially when ur still green.
4.I'm not so sure about the brands. Just go for the big brands and make sure its not made in china.
IMHO
classical is more for plucking and picking stuff like that and it uses nylon strings.
Acoustic is more for strumming , and more importantly SINGING along with it.If u cant sing..... i think its quite meaningless. Normally it uses steel strings, which can be quite tough on ur fingers.
so there ya go
I don't really agree on the MADE IN CHINA part too. lotsa made in china guitars are good for beginners especially. they are value for money and do not equate to low quality and bad sound. always remember tone is in your fingers, i bet any artist out there could make a made in china guitar sound good. Also, it doesn't mean that if you can't sing, its meaningless to play the acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars can be used for fingerstyle or many other applications.

Lots of my stuff are made in china, including of my Genes, Jeans, etc etc.
Besides, as long as 25% of any thingie is made, designed or produce in tat country it can be said to be made in that country...
At least the ppl who say their stuff is made in China are truthful?
Also like to say something tat most sound engineers always say....
As long as it sound good, it is good....Donch care made in where =)
