Chinese-Indian-Malay Cultural Fusion

Hi there everyone,
recently I've just received a project from the tamil community in my school to perform with my club for a festival. And we need to write a fusion of the three different culture's music.

I'm a chinese guitarist myself, I've got an amazing indian drummer but I haven't got anyone for the rest of it.

I need help from anyone who knows how to create that certain feel of indian/malay music, I'm kinda lost now. I'd need help with the chinese part also.

We're using purely contemporary instruments except for indian percussions, so the melody will be played on keyboard or guitars.

I have a problem playing indian music, my attempts always sound more arabic than indian and I don't know why.

Thanks guys for any help really. :?

hey u need a chinese drummer? i'm gd at sound scapes, funk, blues, jazz, latin some fusion. basically i'm versatile, ur project sounds interesting.

fgl, could Mani help? I just need some pointers on what makes up indian music, and how to translate that into guitar music.

blurred, I don't need a drummer cuz I already have one, and also only students are allowed to perform for this. I'd really appreciate though if you have any ideas that you would like to incorporate into this fusion.

But my main problem is really with the indian part, which I am clueless about. Do we have to use quartertones to achieve the indian sound?
