HI,I wanna know if anyone out there could provide me with some tips on how to check a electric guitar when buying it from a person??And is it better to own a Starter set for beginner or should i just go for the single guitar like epiphone?

Thanks!would really appreciate it if i get any replies.:p

1. if it's an electric guitar, you must make sure it works. the way to check this is to plug the guitar in...

2. check if the knobs are working/ stiff

3. check neck relief (whether it's straight/ warped)

4. bend strings to check for choked notes (indicator for unlevelled frets)

5. headstock- check for breakage/ cracks

6. tuners- check if they work

7.fretboard- check for cracks/ excessive dryness if it's rosewood.

what to buy? any guitar which gets you going is the one to get, regardless if it comes in a package or sold individually.

Hello,

subversion is right. the main thing is that you have to check about the knobs, headstocks, turners, fretboard and etc.so keep in mind that check all these things correctly and then buy electric guitar.

thanks!!

It would also be good if the seller agrees to let you test it at his place... Or you could have a battery-powered Vox Amplug or Marshall MS-2 compact amp on hand to test it on the spot. Only sincere buyers with honest intentions would allow you to test it thoroughly before buying. :)

not to mention the truss rod. make sure it is there in perfect working condition. electric guitars without truss rods are almost impossible to play man. and i heard its dam ex to replace a truss rod.

Hmm don't you mean seller?
Anyway agreed, although this may not be true sometimes. For students still living with parents it's awkward especially when the buyer is 20 years their senior... And not everyone has a battery amp or Vox Amplug. I'm actually looking for a battery amp...
