I bought a bass guitar who does not ship international.
So i'm going to get a pseudo US address via one of the service providers and then get them to ship the item over to me.
Different vendors have different algorithms for calculating the charge.
From your experience, which vendor offers the best value?
I am not in a hurry to get the item,so ground shipping is OK for me too.
The bass comes in a hardcase.
comgateway,boderlinx,vpost?

i think USPS that is the cheapest/reliable courier out there. Declare the value to $300 or less. Otherwise you pay customs which is 7% of the total value.

I shipped mine (Fender Highway One Maple ) here and payed $110 shipping and $70 for tax.

Btw, what is this bass guitar? should be a very special one.

Hi Pokoot. Thanks for your reply. What I meant was that besdies allocating a US address, comgateway, boderlinx, vpost also will receive my guitar from the ebay seller and then coordinate the packing and shipping to me.So I wanted to know the vendor that's the cheapest at doing that.Any ideas?btw, its a very rare musicman sabre bass woohoo.

it's well known that of the three, borderlinx is the cheapest, and vpost is the most expensive.

for borderlinx, you will need a citibank credit card. i've also read reviews that the customer service of borderlinx is the best amongst the three too, but i have not had personal experience with them.

Hmm, very interesting. I have checked all the site you mentioned. They are quite interesting. But I am not sure all this sites.

To be safe in your purchasing, here is my suggestion if you really want to purchase abroad.
- Have a friend in the US to deliver for you.
- Order via musiciansfriend.com, sweetwater.com, guitarcenter.com
- Buy new not used.
- Just transfer paypal funds to his account.

But if you want to order locally via some1 else.
- Check bgwguitars.com, they offer reasonable prices.

Just my 2 cents.

Goodluck in your purchase.

Im pretty sure those sites you mentioned don't ship to Sg due to distributor restriction yes? Or was it manufacturer's restriction..
Thus the need for services like comgateway/vpost/borderlinx..

That's right templar03.I have a restriction whereby my ebay seller only ships to US.I suspect they don't want to deal with the risk and uncertainty of selling to foreigners. These ebay sellers normally have 100% seller ratings which they do not want to put a blemish on. I thought that the sites mentioned by pokoot can ship direct?
The beauty of buying from talkbass and ebay is that we can get the really rare or vintage stuff, but getting middlemen to help with the shipping can be a pain.
Seems like borderlinx is the more reliable service.Vpost offers 10% discount now though..hmm choices choices..either way,I think i'm going to blow a huge load on shipping...

I'd go with borderlinx. Use them for most of my purchases from the US whenever the seller doesn't ship international. Used vPost once but found their rates much higher. Have had a very good experience with borderlinx so far.
