Charvel Guitar Problem/Mod

Hi guys

http://www.charvel.com/en-SG/guitars/search.php?partno=2931311586

I tried this guitar at City Music. Feels good, the neck is good, the sound is good. It looks good.

Concern is: the position of the pickup selector! It's so far out that I can't switch it naturally without having to go out of the normal strumming position and the whammy bar blocking.

Questions: Is there any tech that's able to route a new pickup selector position to the position like they have it strats? And split the master volume knob to neck volume and bridge volume(at where the original pickup selector was)?

Please advise! Thanks!

wiring in a new volume knob to replace the pickup selector switch shouldnt be a problem

routing in a new pickup selector switch could prove to be problematic if there is not enough space in the electronics cavity, my guess is that charvel would have made that cavity small due to the need to accommodate only 2 components.

If wood would have to be dremelled out to accomodate the switch then i think it could be quite an expensive mod, maybe in the regions of 50 and above

Perhaps you could get accustomed to this configuration by keeping the whammy bar tight and elevated towards the back of the guitar, this should prevent it from getting in your way from making pickup switching

routing is not cheap and it's an irreversible modification. affects your resale value quite a lot too. are you sure you want to consider that?

a lot of work is involved. when that happens, a lot of money would be involved too. lets run through the steps.

1) drill the front (either for blade switch or toggle).
2) route enough space on the back of the guitar to accomodate that switch.
3) cut a custom plate to cover up the wiring.

if you let a newbie tech do this kinda repair, there can be things like accidental chips or over routing done to your guitar. i've seen plenty of horror stories in person before. not pretty.

you could get used to the design. that would be a much cheaper option.
