Hi can anyone with knowledge about this help?

I have a fender strat usa richie sambora and i was thinking of replacing the bridge.
since the body cavity is not cut out could i replace it with a American 2-Point Synchronized Tremolo with Stainless Steel Saddles bridge without cutting out any wood?
Here are the pictures of the bridge and cavity.

for the neck part i do not wish to remove the locking nut. would it help further to keep the strings in tune?

In a short way you most likely need to cut the wood.

Ya know you'll devalue the guitar by doing that right? :p Seeing as the guitar has cultic value. May as well get a normal MIA strat, sell this and get a lot more moolah.

so thats where they put the 9v batt for the active circuit :P

basically the 2-point trem should be able to drop right in, just check the specs first.
and once you change, you'll have to remove the clamps from the nut.
having it on will not help keep it in tune, just make it harder for you to tune since there wont be any fine tuners on the non-locking bridge.

Thor: it was my first guitar so it has sentimental value. never gonna sell it. i also feel bad as it doesnt get as much playtime as the other guitars. Gotta figure a way to do up the bridge. At first i tot of getting a gotoh floyd replacement. but since the wood has not been cut out. i was wondering what kinda bridge would fit right in.

Everdying: yeh forgot about the fine tuners. Any idea where to go to see the 2 point trem in sg?

If you're worried about the tuning stability of the FR, can't you set it up flush with the body? Since you are floating it slightly...

dude if i'm not wrong a 2point trem won't just go right in by swapping the bridge. the trem post spacings are different. the floyd rose has got a wider spacing apart. to install a 2point trem you got remove the trem posts and studs and redrill holes. also there'll be a gap between the pickguard and the new bridge after doing this.

my advice, sell it off and get another strat with the specifications you want.

yeah i think the spacings are different, you'd most likely need to do some cutting. and you wouldnt be able to use the locking nut well too. they need the fine tuners on the FR to stay in tune after tightening if im not wrong.

thx guys for the replies, guess that when the floyd really screws up then i;ll change to maybe a gotoh.
