can i hop on straight to jazz

hmm...i am actually very interested in jazz...but do not have much theory skills...so can i hop on straight to jazz or must i learn basic rock theory then go on to jazz/.? :?

Rock was deviated from blues.

I don't think there's such thing as "rock theory" anyway.

The answer is yes, you can go learn jazz straight away.

correction - blues, an original artform, had strong influences from country and african music.

jazz and blues developed around the same time, but blues was possibly earlier than.
Jazz developed via an offshoot of blues ragtime in the 1920s.
