Can a combo amp speaker be used with another Amp Head

Is it possible to disconnect a combo amp speaker like this:

and connect the speaker (the male 1/4" plug in this case) to a 1/4" Female to Female coupler? Would this allow the Combo speaker to be used with another amp head with the correct ratings etc?

Will there be any problems like noise or hum or explosions??

well if correct ratings are indeed observed ... you know what to expect ... BUT ... if your other amp head is correctly manufactured ... you should be using a female (for this pictured speaker jack) to male (into the "alien" amp-out socket) AND provided it does handle parrallels (or series in some special models)

i did answer a similar thread on a very similar subject ... amps to speaker matching thingy .... you might wanna check that thread out.

sorry i dun get ur question. R u saying u wanna disconnect a combo amp's speaker and use the amp from the combo amp to use on a cab? If so, wat combo amp is it and wat cab is it. U shud try to impedence match so that u can get the best tone out from the combination.

No, actually it is the other way around.

The Male 1/4" Jack you see in the picture is connected to the Speaker. There are 2 Female Jacks on the Amp itself (seen in the picture). The Female Jack labeled "Ext" does exactly what you say - connects the Amp to an external cabinet. No issues with that - works as designed.

My question was whether I can connect another Amp (for example a Marshall Head) to the Male Jack shown in the picture and use the Speaker on the Combo Amp (Red Color - shown in the picture) to play the Marshall Head through. It wasn't designed that way but why not try it?

Hope this makes it clear. Actually, Accesscoms post (#2) answers my question exactly.

The whole idea is to use the Combo Amp as a stand in (temporary) extension cabinet. Well, it has a speaker in it - why not? It also makes it possible to try out different tone combinations like you say.

Experimentation folks, is the essence of Discovery. If you blow up an amp or speaker or two while you are at it is all in the name of Science - just kidding:) I have checked things out, impedance, wattage etc are perfect with the right factors of safety.

All I need now is a Speaker Cable, one end wired to a Male 1/4" Jack that plugs into the Amp Head and the other end wired into a Female 1/4" Jack that accepts the Male Jack shown in the photo and I have an extra 1x12 Cab to play my (fictitious) Marshall Head through.

oh okay. thats right. u need to have a cable that is 1/4" male on 1 end and the other end is wired onto the output of the combo amp's amphead. the 1/4" male goes into the cab.
